Accommodation
The Nutcracker Homestead offers private countryside accommodation on a working pecan nut farm just outside Parys in the Free State, in the heart of the remarkable Vredefort Dome.
Surrounded by open landscapes and mature pecan trees, the homestead provides a peaceful setting where guests can slow down and enjoy time together. The property sits near the banks of the Vaal River, offering beautiful natural surroundings and space to unwind.
When you book the homestead for a minimum of 2 nights, the entire space is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. This makes it ideal for families and/or small groups of friends looking for privacy, comfort and a relaxed countryside atmosphere.
The homestead accommodates up to 10 guests and is offered on a fully self catering basis.
If your group is larger than 10 guests, additional rooms are available near the swimming pool area.
Homestead Accommodation Layout:
The homestead consists of five bedrooms, offering a combination of rooms inside the main house and semi detached rooms connected to the homestead.
Room 1: Inside the Homestead:
• Standard set up with two single beds
• Bed configuration can be changed to a king bed on request
Room 2: Inside the Homestead:
• Double bed
Rooms 1 and 2 share a bathroom which includes a bath and shower.
Room 3: Semi Detached:
• Double bed
• En suite bathroom with shower
Room 4: Semi Detached:
• Double bed
• En suite bathroom with shower
Room 5: Semi Detached
• King bed
• En suite bathroom with bath and shower

The lounge provides a warm and inviting space with comfortable seating and a fireplace, perfect for relaxed evenings and gathering with family or friends.

Outdoor spaces are designed to make the most of the natural surroundings and relaxed farm setting.
Patio & Braai Area
Outdoor tables and chairs, barrel braais, pizza oven and bonfire pit. Wood and fire starters can be arranged in advance on request.
Swimming Pool
The swimming pool offers a refreshing place to relax during warm Free State days.
Lawns & Riverside Area
Large lawns and open spaces provide room to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. The property also offers access to a peaceful riverside area along the Vaal River.
Jetty on the Vaal River
A jetty on the river offers beautiful 180 degree views across the Vaal River and provides a quiet place to sit, fish, or simply enjoy the stillness of the water.
